Hey Ladies and Gentlemen! I have included below my 5 Must-Watch TV Shows for 2023! I don't know if you have been paying attention, but TV is getting good! And, as always, Black actors are giving what they are supposed to be giving! Let me know in the comments if there are any other shows I should be watching!

Peace + Prosperity,

Jadis "IHateAdulthood" DeShong-Venay

Harlem: Amazon Prime (Season 2)

Executive Produced by Tracy Y. Oliver, Harlem tells the story of four girlfriends who met while attending New York University and are now living in Harlem in their thirties.

And, let me tell you, I am slightly bias toward this show because I am currently getting my master's at New York University.

But it also has a fantastic cast, including THE Megan Good, Grace Byers from Empire, Shoniqua Shandai, and Jerrie Johnson!

And it also has the very handsome Tyler Lepley from P-Valley and the EGOT Whoopie Goldberg!

This show demonstrates that no matter what, Black women are out here thriving and the importance of Black women having sisterhood to get through the good, bad, and in-between.

Please check it out if you have time. It airs Friday's on Amazon Prime. And don't worry if you miss the first season, honey; you can binge the whole thing in one night!

Bel-Air: Peacock (Season 2)

"In West Philadelphia, born and raised on the playground, where I spent most of my days" (DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, 1992). You all know what I am talking about, ladies and gentlemen.

It's the re-envisioned version of the sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. If you are anything like me, we all grew up on Will , Aunt Viv, Carlton, Hilary, and Uncle Phil!

And now, there's another opportunity to see one of our favorite Black cult classics in a new way. Staring Jabari Banks, Coco Jones, and Adrian Holmes Bel-Air dives into topics of Black excellence, racism, class, and black culture.

If you have not had time to watch Season 1, please catch up. Season 2 Premiered yesterday on Peacock!

BMF: Starz (Season 2)

Now, everything 50 cent touches seem to be a hit, and he has produced another one based on the story of the Black Mafia Family.

Through the eyes of Demetrius "Meech" Flenory, the audience gets a glimpse into the story of two brothers who rose from the concrete to become one of the most prolific crime families in the United States.

"Meech," played by Demetrius Flenory Jr., and "Southwest T," played by Da'Vinchi, take us on the ride of a lifetime. And I don't know if you have been tuning in, but season 2 is getting hot!

I suggest you go ahead and subscribe to the Starz channel before 50 hits us with the return of another one of his "platinum-selling" shows!

Guest-Starring individuals like Lala Anthony, Kash Doll, and Monique 50 Cent has found himself another money-making opportunity!

Snowfall: FX (Season 6)

Created by the late great John Singleton (Boyz N the Hood, Poetic Justice, Baby Boy), Snowfall is a crime drama that follows the life of young drug kingpin Franklin Saint played by Damson Idris.

Now, I will be the first to admit that I am late to the party on this show, but Snowfall is must-watch TV.

Set in LA in 1983, the show tells us of the rise of the crack epidemic and its effect on those living in the city. Another masterpiece, the final season, began airing on February 22, and I can't wait to see how it will conclude.

If you have missed seasons 1-5, don't fret. FX on Hulu has got you covered!

Truth Be Told: Apple TV+ (Season 3)

Lastly, I don't know about you but I Stan an Octavia Spencer production. Since the first time I saw her in The Help, I've been stuck like white on rice!

But, all jokes aside, Nichelle Tramble Spellman is providing Apple TV + with some great content. Truth Be Told tells the story of a podcaster, Poppy Parnell, who revisits the original case that started her fame to gain the necessary facts!

Seasons 1 + 2 covered much ground, but season 3, which premiered in January, is giving me life!

It follows the investigation of the disappearance of Black girls at a local high school. And, if you've been watching the news, Truth Be Told is bringing awareness to a crisis our black women are experiencing all over the United States.

Bringing attention to the lack of awareness given when our own goes missing, Truth Be Told calls out many systems that could help us find our missing loved ones. But, if there's anything we've learned about this topic in the last year when we stand together, a lot can be done!

And, ladies, did I mention Mehki Phifer is on this show too?

If you have time, please check it out! It is worth the subscription. And, if you got a cellphone, see if you can get Apple TV + for free to watch!
