I am back and better after celebrating my 25th Birthday, so it was only fitting that we talked about the hottest new movie and music releases this past week.
As you all know, the summer is when Music and Movies are at an all-time high, as everyone is trying to have the best summer smash Hit!
And there are a few contenders, but I will let you be the judge of the new releases below!
But, without further ado, let’s start with some of the newest Music releases!
#1: Doomsday by Cordae, Juice WRLD, Lyrical Lemonade
Let me preface this discussion by saying Cordae can spit! Often seen as an underground talent, I wish Cordae got more respect for his lyrical abilities.
The man has bars for days. And he is giving nothing but the HITS on this new track.
Tapping into the late great Juice WRLD’s iconic sound, Cordae, and Lyrical Lemonade are offering fire to our summer tracklist.

#2: Barbie World by Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice
I am excited about this record because, growing up, all I did was play with Barbies.
I had every holiday edition Barbie and Ken doll in my room.
And this song is on time with the new highly anticipated Barbie movie, where our very own ISSA RAE plays President Barbie!
It gives energetic and pop vibes but still provides us with catchy lyrics and punch lines we won’t forget.

#3: Beach Ball By Busta Rhymes ft. Bia
You know I had to celebrate a fellow Massachusetts-born rapper, as BIA is one of our own.
And she and the legendary Busta Rhymes have released a hot new record for the SUMMA!
Bringing a solid pen game, good visuals, and a fire beat, I don’t know why anyone would expect any less from the duo.
Salute to Busta for still going strong in the game and supporting the newer artists. We love to see a good collaboration!
Now that we’ve discussed some of the hottest new records, there have also been some good movie releases!
#1: Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse
Listen, this movie was too good! I went to see it twice.
It is a continuation of the last movie, but Shameik Moore (Miles Morales/Spiderman) is not playing with the audience!
If you enjoyed the first one, I know you will enjoy this new one!
#2: Transformers: Rise of the Beast
I don’t know about you all, but I am an Optimus Prime and Autobots fan!
When I become a wealthier woman, I plan to purchase a bumblebee car (Chevrolet Camaro)!
But let me stop rambling. This movie has a great cast, including; Anthony Ramos, Colman Domingo, Tobe Nwigwe, and Dominque Fishback!
Please catch it before it leaves the movie theaters!
#3: The Blackening
Listen, child, a Black horror film with some comedy. I am going to see it!
These friends are reuniting for Juneteenth and get trapped in a remote cabin!
