Fentanyl resembling candy raises alarms as rainbow-colored drugs appear in New England

The FBI has issued a warning about dangerous drugs disguised as colorful pills. These harmless-looking pills contain fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is much more potent than heroin or morphine. These pills have been found in candy bags in Connecticut as well as hidden in children’s building blocks in New York City.




Vice President Kamala Harris to campaign in Boston for Democrats Wednesday

Vice President Kamala Harris will arrive in Boston this Wednesday to campaign on behalf of the Democratic gubernatorial, lieutenant governor, and attorney general candidates. Harris will attend a campaign rally at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center at Roxbury Community College at 5:30 p.m, with Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also in attendance.




Pedestrian Seriously Hurt After Being Hit by Vehicle in Roxbury

A person was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle Monday night at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard in Roxbury. The accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. and left the victim with life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene and at the moment it is unclear whether they will face charges.

Affirmative action in jeopardy after justices raise doubts

The supreme court is debating the challenges to admissions programs at the University of North Carolina and Harvard, two universities that use race as a factor in seeking a diverse student body. The court’s six conservative justices expressed doubts about the practice, while the three liberal justices defended the programs. A decision in the case is not expected before late spring.




Musk floats paid Twitter verification, fires board

Despite it being his first week as the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk has already made major changes to the social media platform. The billionaire fired the company’s board of directors and made himself the sole member, and has begun discussing the possibility of asking users to pay a fee in order to maintain a verified account.

Ex-wife Kim Kardashian was also present but according to TMZ, she is not speaking to the father of the children.
